Django's EcoHostel

Django's is a member of the Green Hospitality Programme.

The Green Hospitality Programme is an Irish developed environmental certification standard for the hospitality sector.
The Green Hospitality Awards are recognised both nationally and internationally as standards that allow members achieve good environmental performance and allow visitors to choose "Greener" hospitality businesses knowing that defined criteria are being implemented and monitored. Our Green Hospitality Charter

This is our sustainable tourism charter, developed under the Green Hospitality Awards Programme

At Django’s Hostel, we recognise the need for environmental protection and resource security. We feel that it is our duty to do everything in our power to better the environment for our community, our customers and our industry as a whole.”

To this end we, Django’s Hostel, are committed to taking the following action;

To achieve sound environmental practices across our entire operation
To produce an Environmental Plan setting our objectives, targets and planned actions
To comply fully with relevant legislation
To minimize our waste and reduce our water consumption where possible
To reduce, reuse, recycle the resources consumed by our business wherever practical
To invite our customers, suppliers and contractors to participate in our efforts to protect the environment
To provide all employees with the training and resources required to meet our objectives
To openly communicate our policies and practices to interested parties
To monitor and record our environmental impacts on a regular basis and compare our performance with our policies, objectives, and targets

Major Targets & Objectives

Energy, Water and Waste
We aim to maintain our already low consumption of energy and water, and with an improved recycling system, we hope to generate less waste as a result.

Green Purchasing
Our goal is to source locally more of our products, and to purchase more eco-friendly supplies adding to our already environmentally safe inventory.

Community Social Responsibility
We strive to be more active and involved within the community and with local schools, offering services and helping out whenever and wherever we can.

Local Environment.
As part of Cloughjordans' Ecovillage, we are involved in the planting of native and edible species in all our outdoor spaces, along with 22 acres of native woodland.
